Effects of Angiotensin II and Norepinephrine on Ventricular Performance During Oligemic Shock **

چکیده

The administration of single large doses of angiotensin II has been shown to elicit positive chronotropic and inotropic effects in isolated heart preparations."' Continuous infusions of this hormone in normotensive animals, however, in amounts sufficient to produce marked vasoconstrictor responses, elicit only infrequent and transient increases of contractility.! Occasionally, negative inotropic transients associated with reduced coronary flow may occur.' The effects of angiotensin II upon ventricular function early and late in the course of oligemic hypotension has not been systematically examined. The data presented here indicate that animals in which ventricular function deteriorates after prolonged oligemic shock have large, sustained, positive inotropic responses to continuous infusions of angiotensin II.

Resveratrol Suppresses Cardiac Renin Angiotensin System in the Late Phase of Left Ventricular Hypertrophy

Background and objectives: Resveratrol(3,5,4′-trihydroxy-trans-stilbene) is a natural polyphenole phytoalexin which exerts potential cardioprotective effects, but the cellular and molecular mechanisms responsible for these effects are still unknown. Cardiac renin angiotensin system (RAS) over-activation plays an important role in pathogenesis of left ventricula...

Renin-angiotensin system inhibition on noradrenergic nerve terminal function in pacing-induced heart failure.

Chronic angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition has been shown to improve cardiac sympathetic nerve terminal function in heart failure. To determine whether similar effects could be produced by angiotensin II AT(1) receptor blockade, we administered the ACE inhibitor quinapril, angiotensin II AT(1) receptor blocker losartan, or both agents together, to rabbits with pacing-induced heart f...

Reversal of 'refractory septic shock' by infusion of amrinone and angiotensin II in an anthracycline-treated patient.

A 53-year-old granulocytopenic woman with malignant lymphoma treated with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (CHOP) chemotherapy, including doxorubicin (Adriamycin) and autologues bone marrow transplantation, presented in the clinical state of "refractory septic shock" caused by Escherichia coli. Despite inotropic treatment with dopamine, dobutamine, and norepinephrine i...

Role of angiotensin receptor blockers in heart failure: not yet RESOLVD.

There is convincing evidence that the renin-angiotensin aldosterone system (RAAS) plays a major role in the pathogenesis and progression of heart failure. Angiotensin (Ang) II is a potent vasoconstrictor agent, and through the release of aldosterone, it promotes salt and water retention. Moreover, Ang II is a growth factor for both cardiac myocytes and fibroblasts.1,2 Exposure of these cells to...

The impact of left ventricular assist device-induced left ventricular unloading on the myocardial renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system: therapeutic consequences?

AIMS Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE-Is) prevent the rise in myocardial angiotensin II that occurs after left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation, but do not fully normalize cardiac function. Here, we determined the effect of LVAD implantation, with or without ACE-Is, on cardiac renin, aldosterone, and norepinephrine, since these hormones, like angiotensin II, are likely...
